And I’m home. Finally.

Moving on, I was doing my hourly spam delete-a-thon, when I came across a real gem of a spam that wasn’t even addressed to me. My sister and I got a kick out of it, and I just had to share it. Here it is:

It’s finals week, and I’m supposed to be studying my ass off right now. Huh.

So yesterday was the day for some pretty big entertainment news. December 17th was the release date for The S– Yes, that’s right, The Two Towers came out last night. Right, I know. Sit down. No, I haven’t seen it yet. I’ve been busy studying for finals. Oh, was it? Great. I’m happy for you. Will you sit down and shut up already? And take off the costume, please. Ack, sweet merciful Lord God Almighty, put it back on.

Okay. Thank you. I wasn’t talking about TLOTR:TTT. The other mega-news yesterday was the inevitable release of The Sims Online. Big deal, you say? Yeah, I agree with you, and I’ve got an insider’s opinion on this, too.

Where did I get this insider’s opinion? I’m ashamed to say it, but I, Ray Merkler, participated in the beta test for the game. It’s not something I’m very proud of, and if it’s all the same to you, I’d appreciate it if I was no longer reminded of it from here on in.

As for what I think of it, well, it’s pretty dumb. That’s the best word I can find for it. If you have The Sims and the eight quintrillion expansion packs and you love it to death, keep playing that. Don’t blow your dough (that sounds kinda sexual) on what ultimately amounts to little more than a dressed up chat room. I’ve been calling it that since the first day I participated in the beta, and following the release, IGN has echoed me by referring to it as “the world’s most expensive chat room.” It’s all true. It’s a dumb game. Want to know what can you expect from it? Chatting. Oh, and a bunch of people running around kissing each other and fooling around in the vibrating love bed. That’s it. So when you go to Electronics Boutique this weekend to preorder The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Wanker (giggle) and you see that wall full of copies of The Sims Online, keep on walking.

I have spoken my piece. Now, back to studying.

I just thought of something. Have you ever heard someone call something “indescribable”? Like, have you ever heard someone say something like, “Wow, I did so indescribably bad on that exam.”? Isn’t that kinda silly? Aren’t they describing it just fine by calling it indescribable?

I like snow. The muffled silence of a windless snowstorm is the one thing I miss about Jersey when I’m at school in Delaware, but it is indeed snowing down here right now, and it’s causing me to jump for joy like a kangaroo on E.

I should probably be doing some homework right now, but it’s only Linguistics 101, which is a joke, so I’m gonna talk about why I love going to away games instead.

The Devils beat the Flyers in Phily tonight, 1-0 in OT. Gionta deflected a pass from Elias with 2:09 left in OT to win it. It was a beautiful goal, and the fact that it came immediately after Brodeur saved his shutout on a Simon Gagne breakaway only made it sweeter. There was also one point in the third period on a Flyers Peco Powerplay (that’s right, the FU Center has a powerplay sponsor) when some Devil, I forget who, dove shortstop style to hold the puck at the blue line so Madden - I think it was Madden - could take another shorthanded shot. That was all kinds of slick right there.

But for all that slickness, nothing can match the fun of rubbing it into the home team fans’ asses. It’s no secret that most people loathe the Devils. It’s kinda like the Dallas Cowboys, only the Devils didn’t do anything wrong. They just happen to live in New Jersey. Even when they won, I still heard “DEVILS SUCK!!!” being screamed all over the arena. But hey, fine by me, ’cause that means the Flyers just lost to a sucky team. Nyah nyah.

I even got flipped off by some guy in the parking lot. That was great, especially when I coolly said to him “Yeah, but, see, we won. That’s the thing.” Felt good.

Okay, no more slacking. Got homework to do and a lightsaber cam pic to Photoshop.

Wow, I am having a weird morning.

To begin, read this article. Come back when you’re done.

Okay, so you probably didn’t read it all the way through, but perhaps when I say this, you will. That Jeff Eresman that they mentioned? The one from Lake Hopatcong, NJ? Yeah, I grew up in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. Notice how he’s the same age as me? Yeah, I went to high school with him. Thanks go out to Rachel for finding this article for me. No, seriously. Props.

As if that wasn’t enough, one more little thing added to today’s mahem: a bomb scare. I could have sworn we grew out of these things when we graduated high school, but no, I was sitting in class this morning, and some professor with a French accent comes in and says zat zere ‘as been a bomb sthreat against zis building and everyone in it. So we left, and that was it. Nothing huge, I know, but still a weird way to start the X’mas season.

Anyway, I’m going to watch the Devils play in Philly tonight, where my sister and I will likely be the only idiots screaming when our team scores (which is the main reason why I love going to away games), so I gotta get a lot of shiz done. Pizzout.
